Terms of use and liability

These terms apply to this website, to the apps published on it and to the addon lists it serves. By using any of them you accept these terms.

What this site is, and what it is not

mHub is an open protocol for describing media catalogs, a directory of addons that speak it, and the home of apps that read them. The apps have no content of their own: they show what the addons a user installs deliver. An addon is a description of a catalog, a list of titles and of the addresses where their streams can be found. The stream itself comes from the source named in each entry, from that source's servers, directly to the user's device. This site does not copy, store, cache, re-transmit or otherwise make available any audio or video. The one exception is the image cache described in the privacy notice, which resizes artwork and holds nothing else.

Addons listed as ours

The addons under mhub.mx that are listed as ours describe publicly available offerings of the broadcasters and services they are named after, such as the public broadcasters' free media libraries and their live streams. They link to those offerings as their operators make them available to the public, and change or disappear when the operators change or withdraw them. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting on behalf of any of these operators. Their names and marks belong to them and are used only to say which source an entry comes from. If an operator does not want to be reachable through an addon, one message to the address in the imprint is enough, and the entry goes.

Community addons

Anyone with an account may submit an addon to the community section. A community addon is made, named and maintained by the person who submitted it, the maker, and is published under that maker's handle at mhub.mx/@handle/addon. mhub.mx stores the addon's files, the manifest, the catalogs and the images the maker uploaded, on the maker's behalf, as a hosting service. mhub.mx does not adopt these addons as its own content, does not select or edit what they list, and has no knowledge of the individual entries beyond the review described next.

What the review is, and what it is not. Before a community addon goes live we check that its files are well-formed, that they are what they claim to be (JSON, images and text, nothing else), that the manifest and the catalogs answer, and that nothing obviously unlawful or misleading is in the name, the description or the images. That review is technical. It is not, and cannot be, a clearance of rights: we do not know and do not verify who holds the rights to the content an addon links to, or whether a link is permitted by the source. "Reviewed" on this site means "checked for form", nothing more.

The maker's responsibility. Whoever submits an addon warrants that they are entitled to publish it; that it hosts no media of its own; that it links only to content that its source makes available to the public and that may lawfully be linked to; that it does not circumvent any access control, paywall, geographic restriction or technical protection measure; and that neither the addon nor anything it lists infringes anyone's rights or any law. The maker is responsible for the addon and for everything it links to, and will hold the operator of this site harmless from any claim, cost or damage that arises from it. Every submission requires this confirmation, and the confirmation is recorded with the submission.

What we may do. We may refuse, remove, unpublish or edit the listing of any addon at any time, with or without notice and without giving reasons, and we may suspend or close the account of any maker who breaks these terms or the law, or whose addon draws a justified complaint. Publication is not a right, and a removal is not a judgment on anyone.

Notice and takedown

If you believe that an addon on this site, ours or the community's, links to content that infringes your rights, write to the address in the imprint. Tell us which addon and which entries you mean (the address is enough), what right you hold and what you want removed. We act on such notices promptly, in the ordinary course within a few working days, and we remove or disable the listing in question while the matter is looked at; the maker of a community addon is told. We do not need a court order first: one clear message is enough.

Using the apps

The apps are provided free of charge, as they are, without any warranty as to availability, accuracy, fitness for a purpose or freedom from errors. Which addons you install, and therefore which sources your device talks to, is your choice and your responsibility. Installing an addon means your device requests content directly from that addon's source, under that source's terms and the laws that apply to you. What is lawful to watch, and where, differs from country to country, and knowing that is on you. We may change, interrupt or discontinue the apps, the site and any listing at any time.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law permits, the operator of this site is not liable for any damage arising from the use of this site, the apps or any addon, whether ours or a third party's, including damage from content an addon links to, from the unavailability of a source, from a stream that turns out not to be what its entry says, or from anything a community addon does. This does not limit any liability that cannot be excluded by law, in particular for intent, gross negligence or injury to life, body or health, and it does not limit the liability of a maker for their own addon. If any part of these terms is found invalid, the rest stands.

Names and marks

mHub and Vuma are the names of this project. Every other name, logo or mark that appears on this site or in an addon belongs to its owner and is used only to identify the source an entry comes from. No affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement is implied by a name appearing here.

Changes

These terms may change when the site, the apps or the law do. The date above says when they last did; the version in effect is the one on this page.

Privacy

Using the apps needs no account: nothing asks you who you are, and there is nothing to sign up for. Publishing an addon in the community does, and that account is described in its own section below. What follows first is what the apps on this site do with data, and where data goes when it leaves your device.

What stays on your device

Vuma keeps what you set and what you collect in your browser's own storage: the addons you installed, what you saved, how far you watched, your language, your recent searches and the switches in Settings. None of it is sent to us, and none of it is tied to a name, because there is none.

Inside an mHub browser the same data is held by that app on your device instead of by one web address, which is what lets it survive a move to another address. It stays on the device either way. Settings has a Clear All Data button that removes all of it.

What leaves your device, and to whom

• Addons. An addon is a server run by whoever wrote it. Your browser asks it directly for catalogs, details and streams, so it sees your IP address and what you asked for. We do not operate the addons you install, not even the ones listed on this site, and what each one does with a request is up to its operator.
• Images. Posters and artwork are fetched through cache.mhub.mx, a resizing cache we run, so that a picture arrives at the size a screen actually needs. It receives your IP address and the address of the image being fetched.
• Signing in to an addon. Some addons can be connected to an account elsewhere, a tracking service for instance. Where the addon names no relay of its own, the values travel through www.mhub.mx/relay so that a page opened on a phone can hand them to a television. They are encrypted before they leave the page, with a key that travels in the link you carry to the other device and never reaches the relay. The relay holds ciphertext, briefly, and neither it nor we can read it.

Logs

The servers that answer these addresses keep no request log, and neither does the infrastructure in front of them. They record that they started and what went wrong, never who asked for what. Nothing about a visit is written to storage anywhere, so there is no archive of visits here to search, to hand over, or to lose.

The community account

To submit an addon you sign in with an email address. There is no password: we mail you a link, and clicking it signs you in. We store the address, the handle and display name you choose, when you signed in last, and one cookie (mhub_session) that keeps you signed in on that device for thirty days. It is used for nothing else, and Settings in your portal signs you out everywhere.

What you submit is stored with your account: the files of a hosted addon, the address of a linked one, the check reports, and the note you wrote for the reviewer. A submission is seen by you and by the people who review it. Once approved, the addon, your handle and your display name are public, on this site and in the repository every mHub app can read; the email address is not. Deleting your account in Settings removes all of it, including every hosted file, at once and for good.

Mail goes out for the sign-in link, for the decision on a submission, and to the reviewers when something new is waiting. It is sent through the provider the deployment is configured with, and that provider sees the address and the message. Sign-in requests are rate limited by address and by IP address, which is the one place an IP address is held, in memory, for fifteen minutes.

What none of this does

No analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising, no profiles, no cookies beyond the session cookie of a signed-in maker, and no crash or error reporting. No third-party script, and no third-party font either: the typeface is served from the same place as the app, so opening it does not announce you anywhere. This website uses the fonts already on your device and loads none at all.
